6.8 kg of gold and diamonds were imported by Indian customs. Travelers smuggle it in packets of instant noodles and take it from their bodies to their trunks.
Reported India TV, Thursday (25/4/2024) Mumbai Airport Customs Department arrested a passenger who tried to smuggle 6.9 kg of gold and diamonds last weekend. One of them immediately hid it in packets of noodles.
“During April 19-21, 2024, Mumbai Customs seized over 6,815 kg of gold worth Rs 4.44 crore and diamonds worth Rs 2.02 crore, totaling Rs 6.46 crore in 13 cases. “Four people have been arrested in connection with the cases,” customs officials said in a statement released on Saturday.
A passenger, who is an Indian citizen, was caught while traveling from Mumbai to Bangkok. Officers also found diamonds hidden in a packet of noodles in his trolley bag. After that, the passenger was arrested by the authorities.
There were also foreign nationals flying from Colombo to Mumbai, who were caught and found carrying gold bars and gold pieces with a total weight of 321 grams. This gold was hidden in his underwear
In addition, 10 Indian nationals, two each from Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and one each from Bahrain, Doha, Riyadh, Muscat, Bangkok and Singapore were detained and found carrying 6,199 kg of gold . This gold is hidden in the rectum, on the body and in the penis.
Earlier, during April 11-14, the Airport Commissioner, Mumbai Customs Zone III seized over 10.02 kg gold in 12 boxes. The swallowed gold was found in the rectum of the body, in the handbag, in the passenger’s underwear. Three passengers were also arrested.
