The Indian Coast Guard has actually seized about 61 kg of heroin while carrying out a major operation, the estimated market value of which is around Rs 425 crore. According to an Indian Coast Guard official, this special operation was carried out jointly with Gujarat’s ATS. Under this operation, a total of five accused including an Iranian boat (five crew of Iranian nationality) have also been arrested.
The Gujarat ATS had received very precise information (specific intelligence input) against those involved in the black trade of drugs. After which preparations were made to carry out the operation by sitting with the officers of the Indian Coast Guard. After that, two Super Fast Ships (Fast Patrol class of ships) of the Coast Guard were used to reach those smugglers. According to an Indian Coast Guard official, several major operations have been carried out against drug smugglers during the last 8 months. During these 8 months, about 407 kg of drugs have been seized. Whose estimated market value internationally is around Rs 2355 crore. Along with this, eight foreign smugglers have also been arrested, who were involved in this black trade of drugs.
