Indian barbie celebrating a festival

Mattel, the parent company of Barbie, has released a new doll to celebrate the Hindu festival of lights, also known as Diwali, this year between October 31 and November 1.

The doll was called “Barbie Diwali” and had a traditional Indian look, especially since it was made in collaboration with the Indian fashion designer Anita Dongre.

The new “Barbie” wore a short shirt or “choli”, a pink jacket called a “koti”, and an ankle-length patterned skirt called a “lehenga” decorated with flowers such as jasmine and Indian lotus, which represents strength and beauty.

“In celebration of Diwali, Barbie and I are encouraging fans around the world to celebrate the beautiful heritage of Indian fashion and culture,” said Dongre.

She explained that the gold bracelets and earrings that adorned Diwali Barbie “reflected the radiant lights of the festival. “

She emphasized that she wanted to “bring modern animation with traditional craftsmanship.”

The doll joined the collection of Festival of the World Barbies, along with Cinco de Mayo and Chinese New Year dolls.

Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, is held over five days and falls on a different day each year.

The festival is celebrated by millions of Hindus, Jains and Sikhs around the world, and each religion celebrates different historical events and stories, to spread the message of the victory of good over evil and light over darkness.
