Budapest | India’s Jeswin Aldrin qualified for the long jump final at the World Athletics Championships. Jeswin is also the first Indian to reach the finals of a sport in this championship. He reached eight meters in the first jump and qualified for the finals.
Jesvin secured 12th place in the qualifying round. Jamaica’s Wayne Pinnock jumped 8.54m. Pinnock topped the world record in his first attempt. Murali Sreesankar from Malayali was also in the qualifying round of long jump but could not reach the final.
Aldrin jumped 8.42 meters earlier this year in India. He also jumped 8.22m in Switzerland earlier this month. This is his best jump abroad.
