Chasing the target of 391 runs set by India, Sri Lanka did not put up much of a fight and were all out for 73 runs. Huge win for India by 317 runs.
Sri Lanka’s top scorer was Nuanido Fernando who scored 19 runs. Mohammad Siraj conceded 30 runs and took four wickets for India. Mohammad Shami and Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets each.
The hosts, who won the toss and elected to bat, built up a massive score with the centuries of former captain Virat Kohli and Shubman Gillin.
Kohli scored an unbeaten 166 off 110 balls. 13 fours and 8 sixes were born from Kohli’s bat.
Gill scored 116 runs from 97 balls.
Captain Rohit Sharma 42 and Shreyas Iyer 38 also performed well.
KL Rahul (7) and Suryakumar Yadav (4) were out in an attempt to raise the score.
