India vs Bangladesh: First T20 Match Result and Highlights

Sylhet: India won by 44 runs in the first Twenty20 against Bangladesh. Chasing a target of 146 runs, Bangladesh managed to score just 101 runs for the loss of eight wickets. After winning the toss and going into bat, India scored 145 runs after losing seven wickets. Sajana Sajevan, who batted in the middle order against Bangladesh, was dismissed for 11 runs off 11 balls.

Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana Joti scored 51 runs off 48 balls but he did not get good support from other batsmen. Renuka Singh became the man of the match by taking three wickets for India. Pooja Vastrakar took both the wickets. Yastika Bhatia scored 36 runs off 29 balls and was the top scorer for India. Shefali Verma (31 off 22 balls), Harmanpreet Kaur (30 off 22 balls) and Richa Ghosh (23 off 17 balls) were the other top scorers for India.

Fariha Trisna was caught by Sajana Rabeya Khan who got two boundaries in the match and got out. Another Malayali player in the team, Asha Shobhana, did not get a place in the eleven. A native of Wayanad, Sajana’s performance in the Women’s Premier League paved the way for the national team. Sajana stars for Mumbai Indians in WPL. There are five matches in the Twenty20 series. All the matches of the series will be played at Sylhet International Stadium.
