New Delhi: Union Minister Anurag Thakur said India will host the 2036 Olympics. He asked why India can’t be in the news in every sector from manufacturing to services. The minister added that India is seriously considering the matter.
The next three Olympics will be held in Paris, Los Angeles and Brisbane. The International Olympic Committee recently announced that it is in preliminary talks with 10 cities regarding the 2036 Olympics.
Indonesia, South Korea and Qatar have already expressed their interest in the 2036 Olympics. Previously there have been reports that Germany is also considering the matter.
The minister said he would talk to the Indian Olympic Hospitality Association of India and prepare the outline ahead of the international association’s meeting next year.
The country has previously hosted the 1951, 1982 Asian Games and the 2010 Commonwealth Games. All three were in New Delhi.
However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Gujarat will be touted as an Olympic venue, Thakur said.
