Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia India shares photos and videos from their space explorer when it landed on the Moon. A photo of the Chandrayaan-3 rover shared by the Indian Space Research Institute (ISRO) via ISRO’s official X (formerly Twitter) account.

The released footage shows the rover exiting Chandrayaan-3 and walking a few meters on the lunar lands. This is a great achievement for India which finally succeeded in starting its mission smoothly.

In the video, the rover can be seen touching dust on the Moon while walking a few meters forward. The rover, named ‘Pragyan’, has activated its data retrieval instrument and moved 8 meters.

Most recently, there were two published images showing the probe encountering a large crater and having to correct its exploration trajectory, quoted from TheVergeFriday (1/9/2023).

It is known that the rover and lander on Chandrayaan-3 are equipped with equipment to measure the environment of the Moon. From there, scientists can find temperature data that changes drastically between the surface and underground.

Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft successfully landed near the south pole of the Moon, Wednesday (23/8) local time. India is the first country to land on the far side of the Moon’s satellite.

The south polar region is thought to hold large amounts of water ice, which, if accessible, could be mined for rocket fuel and life support for future manned missions.

India is also the fourth country to carry out a general Moon landing, after the United States, the former Soviet Union and China. This landing became a milestone for the country.

The touchdown occurred at 18:03 Indian time, according to ISRO. Chandrayaan-3 is India’s second attempt to land near the moon’s south pole.

The country’s first attempt to land on the moon, in September 2019, failed to land when Chandrayaan-2 crashed to the moon due to a software glitch.

Nearly four years later, bringing with it numerous design and software improvements, the domestically-built Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft was launched on a LVM3 rocket on July 14 from the spaceport at Sriharikota, on India’s east coast.

The spacecraft entered an elliptical orbit around the moon earlier this month, then performed several maneuvers to shift to a circular path, which travels 150 kilometers above the lunar surface.
