India Secures Double Bronze in Roller Skating at Asian Games

India started today’s medal hunt with a double bronze at the Asian Games. India’s medal haul is in roller skating. The men’s and women’s teams won bronze in the 3000m speed skating relay.

India’s women’s roller skating team consists of Sanjana Bathula, Karthika Jagadeeswaran, Heeral Sadhu and Aarti Kasturi Raj. The Indian women finished the race with a time of 4 minutes 34.861 seconds. Chinese Taipei took the gold in 4 minutes 19.447 seconds while South Korea took the silver in 4 minutes 21.146 seconds.

The men’s relay team consisted of Aryanpal Singh Ghuman, Anandkumar Velkumar, Siddhant Kamble and Vikram Ingle. Indian athletes finished the race in 4:10.128 seconds. Chinese Taipei (4:05.692) and South Korea (4:05.702) won gold and silver respectively. In the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games, Indian roller skaters won two bronze medals in men’s free skating and pair skating.

Meanwhile, in men’s high jump, Sarvesh Anil Kushar and Jesse Sandesh reached the finals. In archery, India’s two mixed teams entered the quarterfinals. India’s Tejashwin Shankar finished fourth in the men’s 100m decathlon.
