Former world champion PV Sindhu has dropped out of India Open badminton. The return of the twenty-seven-year-old is in the first round. In the women’s singles, she fell to Thailand’s Subhanida Keithong 14-21, 20-22. This is the second consecutive tournament that Sindhu has been eliminated in the first round this year. It was the same at the Malaysian Open.
In the men’s category, current champion Lakshya Sen reached the second round by beating Malayalee HS Prannoy (21–14, 21—15). In women’s doubles, Malayalee Tresa Jolly and her friend Gayatri Gopichand advanced. Defeated France’s Margaret Lambert-Anna Tran (22—20, 17–21, 21—18).
