Union Minister Calls for Youth Pledge to Develop India at Jashpur Event

Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], November 13 (ANI) – Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya emphasized the pivotal role of youth in India’s history and ongoing societal challenges, during the ‘Maati Ke Veer’ footmarch in Jashpur. Organized to honor ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Divas’, the event served as both a tribute to Lord Birsa Munda and a rallying cry for the younger generation to step up in playing their part in shaping a prosperous India.

Honoring the Legacy of Lord Birsa Munda

Attending the footmarch alongside Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Mandaviya reminded hundreds gathered at this commemorative event of the sacrifices made by nearly six lakh youth during the freedom struggle. "The life and bravery of Lord Birsa Munda, who fought tirelessly for our nation’s liberty at the tender age of 25, serves as an enduring inspiration for us all," Mandaviya stated. He urged attendees to take a pledge to fulfill the vision of a developed India and foster social welfare initiatives.

The occasion not only celebrated the legacy of tribal heroes but marked the 150th birth anniversary of Lord Munda, reinforcing the cultural significance of the day.

Promoting Social Welfare and Sporting Infrastructure

Mandaviya took the opportunity to announce the construction of a fully equipped sports stadium in Jashpur City, a request brought forth by Chief Minister Sai. This initiative aims to promote sports among the youth, further aligning with the government’s commitment to empowering the next generation.

In his remarks, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for declaring November 15 as ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Divas’ in honor of Lord Birsa Munda. "This day serves as another important moment for the tribal community to take pride in their heritage. Our tribal culture is deeply interwoven with nature, embodying values of harmony and goodwill," Sai remarked.

"From Eklavya schools providing quality education to the Van-Dhan Yojana enhancing income sources, our government is dedicated to restoring the dignity of tribal society," Sai stated, adding that virtually every rural area is now being reached by infrastructure development—roads, electricity, and healthcare—thanks to government initiatives.

The event featured a compelling video presentation showcasing Lord Birsa Munda’s life, as well as ceremonies to honor tribal youth excelling in sports and other fields. Shankar Ram Barla, President of the Munda Samaj, also addressed the crowd, further emphasizing the need for preserving tribal heritage through modern initiatives.

In addition, a grand exhibition capturing the life stories of tribal heroes, alongside displays of tribal culture and traditions, was organized at the Purana Nagar Ground, accentuating the importance of celebrating these narratives in contemporary society.
