India implementing strict lockdown rules in the city of Udaipur, Rajasthan, where two Muslim residents beheaded a tailor who voiced support for insulting the the Prophet Muhammad.
AFP reported that the strict rules included establishing a curfew for the 450,000 residents living in Udaipur.
In addition, the local government also deployed 600 additional police personnel. Authorities have also cut off internet access in several parts of the state of Rajasthan.
The government implemented this strict rule to prevent further tensions after two Muslim residents allegedly beheaded a Hindu man who supported insulting the Prophet Muhammad.
The attack was caught on a video circulating online. In the video, the two Muslims are seen trying to behead the tailor named Kanhaiya Lal.
After that, the two men brandished large knives and threatened to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The two men said they took Lal’s life because the tailor supported comments by a spokesman for India’s ruling party, the BJP, which were deemed insulting to the Prophet Muhammad.
The Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot, then asked residents not to share the video because it would instead “support the motives of the attackers to create friction in society.”
