India Landslide: Rescue Efforts Continues for Trapped Workers

Excavation and drilling work to reach those trapped continues at three locations. One of the drilling machines, which broke down on Saturday, was only nine meters short of finally drilling the way to the workers.

Efforts to rescue 41 workers trapped by a landslide continue in India

For the first time, the rescuers managed to see the trapped workers alive only on Tuesday, November 21, when more than a week had passed since the landslide. Rescuers slid a narrow tube through the debris into which a small video camera was inserted.

The tube also supplies air, food, water and electricity to those trapped. A telephone switchboard has also been set up so that the families of the trapped men can call and talk to the workers. Most of those trapped are migrant workers from various remote parts of India.
