India holds the presidency of the G20; focus on digital transformation

Bali: Prime Minister Narendra Modi takes over as G20 chairman. At the closing ceremony of the summit, Indonesian President Joko Widodo handed over the presidency of the G20 to India. After taking office, the PM said India is focusing on digital transformation.

The presidency lasts one year. India will officially assume the presidency of the G20 from 1 December.

It is a source of pride for every Indian to take over the presidency of the G20. We will organize G20 meetings in various states and cities in India. Together we will make the G20 a catalyst for global change. India’s presidency of the G20 will be inclusive and action-oriented. All are invited to attend the summit to be held in India, the mother of democracy. Only 50 countries have digital payment systems. The Prime Minister also said that citizens of most developing countries do not have any kind of digital identity.
