India Haunted Wave Three Covid-19

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

India It is predicted that the third wave will soon be hit Covid-19.

Concerns arose considering India opened up tourist sites and allowed pilgrimages.

The Indian Medical Association, IMA reminded state governments and citizens to remain vigilant against the coronavirus, as a third wave is inevitable.

“It is painful to note, at this critical time, in many states, both governments and citizens are complacent and involved in mass gatherings without following health protocols,” the association said in its official statement, Monday (12/7) citing Reuters.

The IMA statement is in line with senior officials urging residents to avoid crowds at tourist attractions, especially since the second wave is still not over.

According to IMA, allowing oneself to participate in religious festivals and the presence of people who have not been vaccinated can trigger the spread of the third wave.

“Sightseeing locations in small towns, pilgrimage trips, religious fervor are all needed, but we can wait a few more months,” he said.

The pace of vaccination efforts in India is considered slow. Until now only about 8 percent or 3.7 million of the 950 million population who have received the full vaccine.

While the daily cases and death rates are worrying. On Tuesday (13/5) daily cases increased by 40,215 and daily deaths by 623.

With this addition, the total cases in India reached 30.9 million, and 411,349 deaths.
