India Dominates South Africa in World Cup Victory

India won the World Cup by 243 runs against South Africa at the Eden Gardens on November 5. With this, India continues its winning streak with its eighth consecutive victory. In the match, India won the toss and went into bat, scoring 326 runs for the loss of five wickets in 50 overs. In reply, South Africa suffered a humiliating defeat by 83 runs in 27.1 overs.

South African cricket coach Rob Walter spoke to the media after the big fight. He talked about the Indian team and South Africa.

‘They are a fierce bunch. The team is doing well. You still have a chance to bring out the talent,’ Walter spoke to the media.

India and South Africa are currently confirmed semi-final teams. Walter believes that if the two meet one more time in the knock-out matches, they can make a difference in the points table against India.

‘It’s a fun game that teaches new lessons every day. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the points table changes at the next stage. We have learned from this,’

Pacer Marco Jansen has already become the highest run scorer in the South African team. The player conceded 94 runs. But Walter believes there will be a better ending to the current situation.

“It’s good to play a match like today. There’s a lot to learn from a loss and see it as an opportunity to play against a better team. He suffered more today. But he has the ability to come back, he will come back,’ said Walter, also addressing Janssen.

Virat Kohli’s century and Shreyas Iyer’s half-century raised India’s score in the match. Kohli scored his 49th ODI century on 101 runs off 121 balls. With this, Virat is tied with cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar’s world record. Shreyas scored 77 (87) runs and Rohit Sharma scored 40 (24) runs.

It was seen that the Proteas, who were batting in reply, collapsed one after another. Jansen scored 14 (30), Razie van der Dusen scored 13 (32) and David Miller scored 11 (11).

The Proteas were crushed by the devastating performance of the Indian bowling line. Ravindra Jadeja took five wickets conceding 33 runs in nine overs while Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets conceding 7 runs in 5.1 overs. Mohammed Shami conceded 18 runs in four overs and took two wickets.

After winning eight matches in a row, India has confirmed its dominance in the 2023 World Cup. India’s next match is against the Netherlands on November 12. South Africa will also face Afghanistan on November 10.
