Hangzhou: Nepal lost to India in Asian Games cricket. Chasing the target of 203 runs set by India in the quarter-final match, Nepal managed to score only 179 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. India entered the semi-finals with a 23-run win.
Kushal Bhurtel (28 off 32 balls), Kushal Malla (29 off 22 balls), Dipendra Singh Airey (32 off 15 balls) and Sundeep Jora (29 off 12 balls) shone for Nepal. Karan remained unbeaten on 18 runs off 13 balls. Nepal surrendered after shaking India who expected an easy victory.
Josh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi took three wickets each for India. Arshdeep Singh took two wickets.
India scored 202 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs thanks to the century performance of Yashaswi Jaiswal, the opener who won the toss and chose to bat.
Jaiswal scored 100 runs from 49 balls including seven sixes and eight fours. In the last over, Shivam Dubey scored 25 runs from 19 balls and Rinku Singh scored 37 runs from just 15 balls to cross the Indian score of 200.
Captain Rituraj Gaekwad scored 25 runs off 23 balls. Tilak Verma (2) and Jitesh Sharma (5) could not perform better.
