——
10,000 cardboard beds are said to help India cope with the rapidly increasing corona infections. They stand in an unused building of a religious sect in the capital New Delhi – the epicenter of India.
–
The competent authority said that cardboard beds were light, that they could be set up quickly and that they cost the equivalent of 14 euros each. In addition, chemicals on the surface of the cardboard beds would make them waterproof and therefore washable. According to the manufacturer, the virus only survives there for 24 hours.

India is the fourth most corona-affected country in the world – after Russia, Brazil and the United States. There are now more than half a million corona cases and more than 16,000 people with the virus have died.

More ovens for crematoriums
To provide more space for the sick, India is also equipping trains, hotels and stadiums with beds. New Delhi Prime Minister Arvind Kejriwal said death tolls rose in early June due to a lack of hospital beds and testing opportunities in the capital. The situation is now better, but it is unclear how long it will last. Crematoriums in the capital are also upgrading and building more ovens, local media reported.

The government also promised to distribute blood pressure monitors to patients. So they can stay at home and only go to the hospital when a certain value is reached. (SDA)
