India Beats Defending Champions Japan in Asian Games Hockey, Secures Spot in Semifinals

Hangzhou: India defeated defending champions Japan in Asian Games hockey. India won by four goals against two. India topped Pool A with their third straight win. With this, India has activated the possibility of semis.

Abhishek scored two goals and shone for India. The goals were in the 13th and 48th minutes. Mandeep Singh scored in the 24th minute and Amit Rohidas in the 34th minute for India.

In the final five minutes of the fourth and final quarter, Japan struggled and rattled the Indian net twice. Genki Mitani scored in the 57th minute and Ryosei Kato in the 60th minute for Japan.
