This will be the highest pension rate-up in many years. An increase of 13.8% is expected from 1 March 2023. Funds have been reserved in the state budget for the increase in benefits and for the payment of the thirteenth old-age pension.
Inflation dries up pensioners’ wallets. Officially, prices are growing at less than 17% year-on-year (the latest reading from the Central Bureau of Statistics), but senior citizens are talking about an even greater increase in the prices of basic foodstuffs, not to mention the heating or lighting errands.
This is why pension indexation in 2023 will be so important. Currently, the lowest pension is PLN 1,338.44 gross (net is minus 9% of the health insurance premium). It is already known that the valuation index will be at least equal to 113.8. This means that the lowest pension will be PLN 1,523.14. Detailed calculations can be found in the slides we have placed in a clear gallery. There are easy to follow infographics.
However, it could be slightly higher and reach PLN 1,588.44. since there is an additional assumption that the lowest benefits should increase not by percentage, but by amount, by PLN 250.
However, we also recall the pensions for people who have been insured for less than 20 years (women) and 25 years (men). In their case, the amount of the guaranteed minimum pension is not paid, but we have also included them in our graphs.
The cash pension received in the individual months may differ from those presented in our infographics, for example due to the different possibilities of the tax-free amount in the individual cases. However, the calculation fully reflects the gross and net values in the final analysis.
