Index – Sports – Father and son compete in darts World Cup for the first time

A year ago, Gerwyn Price defeated Gary Anderson 7-3 in the final. The two big guns will be in the tournament again this time, as will Peter Wright, Michael van Gerwen and one of the fans ’big favorites, Fallon Sherrock. Singaporean legend Paul Lim is preparing for his 26th World Cup.

There will be 96 players in the World Cup, the event will begin on December 15 and end with the final on Monday, January 3rd.

The total prize money again is £ 2.5 million, of which the winner can pocket £ 500,000.

A set still lasts up to three winners. Three sets must be won in the first two rounds, four in the third and fourth rounds, five in the quarterfinals, six in the semi-finals and seven sets in the final to win.

The reigning world champion Gewryn Price – who recently in Budapest a Hungarian Darts Trophyn he triumphed – he was already in front of the board in the second round on the first day of play, and a round later he could face Sherrock with wolf eyes.

Give me two or three more years and I will be even more dominant. Even though I am already the world champion and leader of the rankings

He said before the start.

The good news for darts lovers is that Raymond van Barneveld will return to the World Cup after his previous retirement, where he can also meet world champion Rob Cross if he advances. Interestingly, the 16-year-old German racer Fabian Schmutzler also got out and could even show up against Peter Wright.

Not to be overlooked is the fact that an Austrian brother and sister will be at the World Cup, Rowby-John Rodriguez and Rusty-Jake Rodriguez.

For the first time in the history of the World Cup, father and son are competing in the same tournament: Australian Raymond Smith and Ky Smith have also made it out.

The first round runs until December 21, with the second round matches taking place in parallel on December 23. After Christmas, the World Cup will continue with the third round on December 27, with the eighth final due on the 29th and 30th. The quarter-finals will be held on the first day of the year, the semi-finals on the second and the finals on the third.

About the odds of Veronika Ihász, a lakeside in the sport in January WDF World Cup we asked the Hungarian participant. Incidentally, Sheras defeated Sherrock in a German tournament a few years ago, and he is particularly pleased that the position of women in darts is getting better.

Thanks to heaven, the situation of women in darts is getting better and the ladies are getting more and more respect and attention, especially since the PDC is already organizing a qualifying tournament for them.

Said Ihász to the Index.

For the time being, the Győr Darts Club rider is concentrating on his next task, he is not yet winking at the PDC World Cup.

Now, after 15 years, my dream of getting to the World Cup has come true. I still want to experience this, and if God forbid that I get tired of the WDF World Cup, then maybe we can eye the PDC

Said the darts player with a ten-time adult championship title, whose everyday life is a bit chaotic now as he also tries to prepare, work, run a household and raise a child, but will of course be watching the PDC World Cup.

It’s getting harder and harder to watch the PDC races with the eyes of the fans, since I’m already in the circuit. Anyway, I really like Peter Wright and James Wade. Gerwyn Price he is in very good shape but Wright and Michael van Gerwen can also get there in the end.
