The Hungarian and Slovak national teams were the last in the C-group in Zadar to start the women’s volleyball championship. In the first two meetings, it can be said that the paper form prevailed, the host Croats defeated Switzerland 3-0 on Thursday, while on Friday the group’s towering favorite, Italy, also won 3-0 against Belarus. Four of the six teams go on to the Belgrade sequel, due to the balanced balance of power, any of the other five can apply for the three places behind the Italians.
In principle, the Slovak and Hungarian teams have a similar playing force, and although we could hardly match their match with the “final” token, in the event of a victory (especially 3: 0 or 3: 1), one side could have taken a big step towards the Serbian capital.
Due to the coronavirus epidemic, the Croatian authorities decided that it was not possible to sell tickets for the meetings in Zadar, however, the associations were able to distribute some tickets, which were primarily available to players to their relatives. A group of about 20-30 people could take a seat in the Kresimir Cosic Sports Hall, and after the Anthem, the drums came out, and of course the „Ria! Ria!” is.
Federal captain Jakub Gluszak sent Gréta Szakmáry, Zsuzsanna Király-Táll, Anett Németh, Zsófia Gyimes, Ágnes Pallag, Eszter Pekárik to the field, Fruzsina Tóth was the liberal.

Already the very first minutes predicted that a close battle was expected, at first neither team was able to score two points in a row. Then luckily this was interrupted by ours with Gyimes dropping, and Szakmáry’s hit and ace was 7: 3 here when the Slovaks asked for time. The rampart has been doing parade work so far, and Tóth has plowed the field in the field.
The request for time did not help them either, with a huge boost, and more importantly, the Hungarian national team played exactly, which kept its 5-6 point forum.
The Slovaks sweated almost blood every ball, then at 16:10 they caught a good series, after which Gluszak called his own. The answer came with Gyimes’ center attack, which restored the four-point difference, but two of them were quickly eliminated by Barbora Koseková. I really needed Pallag’s point, as did King-Tal’s naughty solution and Németh’s bomb, which changed the position to 20:17. Another Slovak request for time, followed by a heroic Hungarian defense and a Hungarian point, which managed to discourage Marco Fenoglio’s unit.
As a captain worthy of team captain Szakmáry, he was also a leader in defense and attack, after his ingenious block-out the team was able to manage 4 setballs, the first of which he took advantage of, thanks to a short circuit in Slovakia (25:20).

Like the first one, the second act started with Eszter Pekárik’s point, but then an error slipped on the Hungarian side to complete several attacks, with these outs the opponent stepped forward. This time Slovakia led to 7: 3 and Gluszak asked for time. The 3-4 point difference seemed to stabilize, meaning the bleeding stopped, only a good series would have been needed to equalize. 1-1 units were caught out of the disadvantage, Gyimes and Németh delivered the points at that time, and Pallag’s solutions were also seated, the advantage of Slovakia melted into a single point. And although Mária Zernovic, who strengthened Vasas, still postponed the Hungarian equalization, one out came.
In fact! At 21:20 the Hungarian team reversed the position, Fenoglio had to put his head in order again.

With some luck, they managed to equalize, they had an prospect of exciting hair, and at 22:23 Gluszak gave a briefing.
Pallag was amazingly cheeky again, and after Németh’s bomb came a Hungarian set ball. Király-Tál came to open, and the routine sender outsourced the Slovaks with the help of the net, leading the Hungarian team to 2: 0 in terms of sets! (25:23)
„The third set started with a Hungarian point on the principle of do not change the winning recipe, this time Szakmáry blocked it. the Slovaks were hit by the Hungarian team.
The identity of the leader was constantly changing, no one could draw with two points, until Slovakia scored three points in a row.

At 14:17 Gluszak felt he had to ask for time, but this did not have the desired effect, he had to give another briefing at 15:20. But that didn’t upset the Slovaks either, who quickly got to the set ball, and although the first three were blocked by ours, Németh opened the net, beautifying it overall. (20:24)
It started with two Hungarian points, but the fourth stage continued with three Slovaks, then Gyimes and Szakmáry had a quick translation.
At that time, Nikola Radosová’s shifted gear and they quickly packed four, but Gyimes produced a parade opening series, with which the scoreboard showed an 11: 9 Hungarian lead. Four games, four completely different scenarios, extremely spectacular ball runs and a huge fight characterized the match. Gluszak also replaced Kiss Gréta, who was also wonderfully open, thanks to him the Hungarian team playing in the white jersey hung six points, 19:13. Then, although our northern neighbors carved two of them, it was just a begging flare from them.
The Hungarians remained confident in their hair, they did not waver for a moment, and at 24:18 Németh mercilessly cut the first match ball!

With this, the Hungarian team successfully took the first hurdle, immediately scoring three points, perhaps against the biggest rival in terms of advancement. Wonderful start and a small step towards Belgrade.
The end result
Women’s Volleyball Championship
Group C, Round 1:
Hungary – Slovakia 3: 1 (20, 23, -20, 18)
“It’s not easy to resume the match after a six-minute break, I still have bad experiences with this from Poland,” he began the assessment in the mixed zone. Jakub Gluszak, referring to the third game derailment. “I told the girls that it was dangerous, yet we stopped, we started to deviate from the preliminary tactics while the Slovaks improved in attack. Until then, our block worked great, but it also went bankrupt there, but the end of the set was already okay, which gave strength to the fourth. We didn’t start well either, but Zsófi Gyimes’ openings swept us, brought out a good attitude from us, and we were able to win because of this and because of the team unity. We analyzed the Slovak team a lot and played exactly as we expected, and the girls performed the tactics nicely. “
We were really looking forward to the first match, so far we have only focused on that. They represent a similar force to us, but we were still able to dominate in the beginning, which gave us the impetus and confidence to end the meeting. I’m happy with my good openings, I was able to disturb their best racket, which was later replaced by the coach. I always strive to add something else to success if, say, the punch doesn’t go
He said extremely happily Zsófia Gyimes.
“We are very happy, a perfect gift for Hungarian volleyball on August 20th. We started hard, then there was a little ups and downs, but in the fourth we were able to come back focused, with our own play. It was a great start to the European Championship. In the first we were able to dominate by following the tactics, in the second they felt our game, so the match became more balanced, then in the third we really got a ups and downs, but in the fourth we were able to stay sharp and react better to their game, “the team captain summed up. Gréta Szakmáry.
