Tottenham’s hopes of starting in the Champions League next season are still alive. The London team won a very important victory against Burnley, Ange Postecoglu’s students won 2-1, so with two rounds before the end of the championship, they are four points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa, who are eligible for the Champions League.
In the Saturday afternoon match, Burnley took the lead by surprise, Bruun Larsen scored in the 25th minute, but Pedro Porro equalized a few minutes later. In the second half, Tottenham played football in a clear field dominance, but the new goal did not want to come together. Finally, Van de Ven broke the ice in the 82nd minute, shooting from James Maddison’s pass into the left side of the goal, which turned out to be the winning goal.
Burnley are mathematically out of the top flight with this.
In the other matches of the matchday, Bournemouth, without Kerkez Milos of the Hungarian national team due to suspension, lost to Brentford at home, while Newcastle also played a draw against Brighton in front of their own audience. As we reported earlier, Manchester City, a contender for the championship title, scored a four-goal victory as a guest of Fulham.
