The Ferenc Liszt Prize-winning Hungarian musician and violinist returned to Facebook after “long months of difficult struggles, numerous legal procedures, countless correspondence, and desperate attempts” and also revealed why he could not use his official page. As we previously reported, almost eight months ago, the violinist’s page was hacked and filled with bizarre posts.
The musician was thus unable to access his personal account. As he wrote in the post,
Internet fraudsters have obtained my information and misused it. All the money was withdrawn from the company account number assigned to the account, and they tried to extort money from thousands of my followers in my name.
Zoltán Mága added that he tried to inform his followers so that they would not become victims of fraudsters. He also stated that although there are many profiles in his name on Facebook, none of them are his, except this one.
Facebook didn’t, the detectives helped him
He had previously filed a report on the matter and turned to the Facebook team for help, but they were unable to resolve the situation, even though the musician tried to ask for help from European and American leaders.
Due to the frauds, I took advantage of all available legal options to initiate criminal proceedings, and in the case, the Cybercrime Department of the National Investigation Bureau of the Emergency Police initiated proceedings for the crime of information system or data breach
– informed Mága, adding that her YouTube channel was also hacked, but it was restored within a few days.
However, it took almost three-quarters of a year to fix the permissions on his Facebook profile. According to his post, he owes the fact that he was able to get his site back by Easter mainly to the “sacrificing work” of the National Investigation Bureau.
The musician promised to update his page in the next few days and try to fill it with the most important events of the last 8 months.
