The local governments and beach operators of Lake Balaton are already very much preparing for this year’s opening. Bathers can also be happy because they can expect a lot of innovation and improvement. In the Kisfaludy tourism development program, a number of free beaches have been given a new look. There are places where it’s after Pentecost, but there will be places where they make the opening dependent on the weather.
According to the plans, the free beaches will definitely open in Balatonfenyves on June 15 – we found out Gábor Lombár from the mayor, who also said that a lot of novelties can be expected. Where necessary, they arranged the terrain, filled the road at the beach on Pozsonyi Street, and set up a baby-mama room and a playground. On the big beach, the giant slide was renovated for HUF 100 million, and uniform changing cabins were placed everywhere.
György Galácz, The mayor of Balatonmáriafürdő said that nearly 70 million forints had been spent on modernization this year. Of the eight beaches, only one is paid, the rest can be used for free. Toilets and showers have been renovated almost everywhere, and a baby-mama room has been set up on Őrház Street beach. The Kisfaludy program was launched in 2017 to renew all open-air beaches by 2030. Beach developments are being implemented in several stages. This year only 80 open-air beaches are being developed, and of course not only at Lake Balaton, for a total of about 13 billion forints.
According to the tourism expert interviewed by Index, there is no cause for concern, because there are many good quality and sufficient free beaches at Lake Balaton. Kiss Róbert Richárd highlighted that everyone will find what they are looking for.
Lake Balaton satisfies every need. Even those who just jump down for a day can feel good, but also those who want more culinary experiences beyond hake and beer.
– said Róbert Richárd Kiss, adding that a big attack is expected at the Hungarian sea this year. Referring to tourism surveys, the expert said the accommodations will run full house throughout the summer. Incidentally, this was also confirmed by the mayors interviewed by the Index.
In terms of the number of free beaches, the southern shore of Lake Balaton still leads. True, some can also be found on the north side. At the same time, Róbert Richárd Kiss also told the Index that almost half of the approximately fifty lakeside settlements have free beaches, which, in his opinion, already provide a higher standard for those wishing to bathe.
We also learned that due to the coronavirus epidemic, just like last year, this year, beaches will be able to disinfect everywhere.
