Index – Culture – Kátya Tompos fought cancer while excluding the public, but she reached her limits alone

As reported by Index, a fundraiser has been started for the treatment of Kátya Tompos. The Jászai Mari award-winning actress suffers from a rare type of cancer for which the most suitable treatment is not available in Hungary. On Thursday, the Fábián Juli Memorial Foundation shared on its social media page that the costs incurred so far have already consumed the 41-year-old singer’s reserves, so they are organizing a collection for her recovery. In response to the Index’s question, Tamás Puskás, the director of the Central Theater, clarified that the collection was started for the so-called adjuvant, i.e. supportive, treatments.

According to the Fábián Juli Memorial Foundation, at Kátya’s request, the public was excluded for a long time, but they felt that the time had come to address the general public. The foundation We love you Katya is also organizing a charity gala at Szeged National Theater on May 25. Among the performers are Dorottya Udvaros, Anikó Für, Róbert Hrutka, Attila Dolhai, Mariann Falusi. The proceeds go entirely to Kátya’s medical treatment fund.

On the social media page of the actress, they also mentioned that when they say thank you, they cannot leave out Kátya Tompos’s doctors and health workers. In addition, they are also grateful to the National Health Insurance Fund (NEAK) for financing the treatments and the costs related to medicines.

As it was written, during the medical treatments, the actress also received publicly funded outpatient and inpatient care, unique equity drug support and planned medical treatment abroad. Last but not least, they thanked the team of the Central Theater and the friends and colleagues who stood by Kátya Tompos.

Well-known actors of the Hungarian theater and music life have joined the initiative started for Kátya Tompos. He shared the collection started for the singer’s treatment with his followers, among others: András Csonka, Anita Abel, Marianne Peller, Monika Ullmann, Wolf Kati, Little RamonaCsemer Boglárka (Boggie), Alexander the Great, Andrea Balázs and Jordan Adel.
