Our article has been updated.

“It must have been noticed by many that Kátya Tompos has not been seen in theaters and concert halls for two years, and has also disappeared from the field of view of the media,” begins the post on the Fábián Juli Memorial Foundation’s website. The reason for this was a cancer – he could only visit the “boards representing the world” for one reading evening each, as long as his current condition allowed it.

The state does not finance this treatment

“Kátya suffers from a rare form of cancer for which the most appropriate treatment is not available in Hungary. The current phases of her medical treatment abroad are not funded by the state, the costs incurred so far have already consumed Kátya’s financial resources and reserves, as well as the amount previously collected by her friends,” they write in the post.

At Kátya’s request, the public has been excluded until now, but the time has come to turn to the general public for help. On the one hand, we love Kátya a charity gala will be organized at Szeged National Theater on May 25, 2024. Among the performers are Dorottya Udvaros, Anikó Für, Róbert Hrutka, Attila Dolhai, Mariann Falusi. The proceeds go entirely to Kátya’s medical treatment fund.

Those who cannot attend the gala, but would like to support the treatment of Kátya Tompos, can do so by transferring it to the account of the Fábián Juli Memorial Foundation. The collection deadline is the day of the concert, May 25. “Thank you for thinking of Kátya!” – the organizers close the post.

Update:

In the meantime, our newspaper spoke to Tamás Puskás, the director of the Central Theatre, who clarified what was written by the Fábián Juli Memorial Foundation. According to this, the state plays a significant role in the medical treatment of Kátya Tompos at home and abroad – for which the collection has now started, the so-called adjuvant, i.e. supportive treatments. In addition, the Central Theater is trying to provide all the help from the beginning so that the actress recovers as soon as possible.
