As we reported on Index, an accident occurred at the Saturday afternoon performance of the Richter Flórián Circus, as a result of which a spectator was seriously injured. Because of this, the company had to cancel the evening’s performance, while the spectator was taken to the hospital. The circus has launched an internal investigation, but they are also cooperating with the police in everything to prevent similar cases in the future. According to the portal’s information, the accident happened during the program of the Flying Henríquez aerobatics group, when 18-year-old David missed a move and fell into the abyss. Although a protective net was used, the artist was not harmed, but one of the columns holding the net fell onto the auditorium due to the load and hit one of the guests on the head. Several people panicked and called the ambulances, who also called a rescue helicopter to the scene. The middle-aged man who suffered the accident was transported by air to the hospital in Győr in a life-threatening condition, unconscious.

You can imagine what would happen if a child was sitting on that chair, he would not have survived the accident,” he added.
“We were sitting behind the man who had the accident, luckily we escaped with minor injuries,” said another witness. “The man’s head was covered in blood, he slipped off the chair and passed out. My children were in a state of shock, but so were the other little ones, since it was an afternoon matinee performance. I don’t think we’ll ever go to the circus again.”

– explained lawyer László Horváth. “The circus is very lucky that only one person was injured. They can expect an obligation to compensate, not only from the injured, but also from those who were alarmed by the incident,” he added.
