With the presence of the historic Jorge “El Mágico” González, the National Sports Institute of El Salvador (INDES) provided details of “A magical night”, an event that will pay tribute to the most emblematic figure of Salvadoran sports, with the opening of the museum in the sports venue that bears the name of the former footballer, and with the game that will be played on May 30 between La Selecta and Cádiz CF.
The press conference was also attended by José Mata, deputy to the presidency and responsible for the member control area of Cádiz CF; Humberto Sáenz Marinero, president of the Regularization Commission of the Salvadoran Football Federation (FESFUT), as well as the president of INDES, Yamil Bukele.
“It is admirable what “El Mágico” González awakens to all Salvadorans and internationally. Jorge has given a lot to this country and he does not measure what he has done,” said Bukele.
The official revealed that on May 29, at 6:00 pm, the museum will be inaugurated in honor of “El Mágico”, with some unpublished photographs, belongings of the player, memories of his sports career and a soccer theme, an activity in the which will also screen a documentary about the former footballer’s career.
The opening ceremony of the stadium that bears the name of the Salvadoran player was rescheduled for May 30, at 7:00 pm, with the friendly match between the blue and white and the Spanish club as the main event of the night. Admission to this meeting will be completely free. “We would like to thank INDES for inviting us to participate in this event, since we were aware that there was the mere possibility of holding a Magical Night, as it is now called, we had the immediate decision to support that initiative,” said Sáenz Marinero.

It was an honor to come to El Salvador to play that tribute match.
The protagonist of the tribute mentioned: “I am excited about this tribute and I will not be able to play due to age issues, but from the field we are going to manage to thank the noble fans.”
The gala also celebrated the birthday of “El Mágico”, who assured that this was a celebration that was quite out of the ordinary and thanked him for making the day more special. At the end of the event, a happy birthday song was sung and he was also given a cake with a minifigure of the former player.
