A duel of opposites in terms of objectives led to a great game. Independiente needed to win to reach the last date of the Championship Zone “A” with chances (they will face River Plate) and Arsenal played for pride.
It was always difficult for Independiente to get into the game and Arsenal took advantage at the start with an error by Alexander Barboza in the last line that found Lucas Albertengo, who complied with the former’s law, and did not forgive Sebastián Sosa.
The “red” reached the tie with a mid-distance shot from Lucas Romero after several minutes of football uncertainty that contained another lackluster performance by Colombian Andrés Roa.
The second half was a goal festival. Arsenal improved in attack with the entry of Ramiro Luna (ex-Leandro N. Alem and Midland) by Lucas Necul, and through Jonathan Candia, with a header, he went to the front again.
Independiente leaned on the destabilizing figure of Alan Velasco in search of a new equality that came about with a brilliant definition by Jonathan Menéndez.
Before the final 15 minutes, the match entered a permanent round trip that made it exciting.
Luna put Arsenal ahead for the third time before an Independiente played in attack, who vehemently claimed the previous play in which there was a penalty not sanctioned by referee Néstor Pitana in an obvious infraction by Fabio Pereyra to Velasco.
Lucas Pusineri’s team got more strength, without so many ideas, and sealed the 3-3 in a good play by Velasco who found complicity in the response of the debutant goalkeeper Alejandro Rivero.
Independiente went with everything in the end and had it with the shot on the crossbar by Nicilás Messiniti (42m) and another shot by Silvio Romero (44m), but Arsenal defined it in a lethal counter and another superb definition by Luna.
Arsenal’s victory against Independiente had all the spices of a great game in which Pitana, who expelled a player from each team, was in the eye of criticism.
Independiente suffers another great disappointment, while the future of his coach is uncertain, despite the fact that the leadership promised to renew for one more year.
On the last date the “red” will receive, as has been said, River, one of the leaders of the group together with Boca, who leads him by a goal, and Arsenal will close its participation against Huracán, in Sarandí.
