Independent MP Denis Tardif continues his work

Since his withdrawal from the Coalition Avenir Québec caucus last December, the elected official now acts as an independent. The member’s work has changed somewhat.

“I work for people. I don’t work to settle scores. I work to advance issues in the community I represent, ”says Denis Tardif straight away.

He continues to work from home, a new way of doing things that has its advantages and disadvantages. Moreover, he will make his first presence in the National Assembly in two weeks.

“The pandemic has changed the work of the role of MP. Since last year there are 37 deputies in the chamber. So, members like me on March 9, I go back to Quebec to Parliament, ”he says.

The politician applied to sit in person on various parliamentary committees. However, he will have to share his time with the other two independent MPs; Catherine Fournier and Guy Ouellette. In the meantime, he is concentrating his efforts on his work, which he says remains the same as when he defended the CAQ’s colors.

“Work continues exactly as it has been for two years. We work deep down, to the maximum of what we can give, ”he explains.

Even if Denis Tardif no longer sits for the ruling party, he assures that his relations with his colleagues have not changed. Asked about the events of last December, Denis Tardif was rather evasive, but he nonetheless understands the extent of his actions.

“I think people sent me the message who kindly told me and I received it and I understand. I understood and I know what people tell me, ”admits the man.

The fate of the elected is not yet fixed as to a possible return to the CAQ. According to our information, no decision will be taken before the end of this parliamentary session.
