Buckingham Palace reportedly hires independent lawyers to investigate alleged harassment by Meghan Markle, reports The Sunday Times. At least two employees of the British royal family are said to have been “bullied and humiliated” by Prince Harry’s wife in the past.
Buckingham Palace would initially want to start an investigation into the Duchess of Sussex, but would now have engaged an outside law firm. It is not clear why the family chooses an external company.
The first complaint about Markle came out in 2018. Jason Knauf, then a close associate of Prince Harry and his wife, described Markle’s behavior at the time as “totally unacceptable”. “I am very concerned that the Duchess was able to bully two of the household’s personal assistants,” said Knauf. Markle has denied all charges.
The relationship between the couple and the royal family has cooled considerably since it decided to step back. In a controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey, the two told more about this. Markle also elaborated on the state of affairs within Buckingham Palace.
