Back from the independence tournament in Mauritius. The “Malagasy Miray Hina” association, bringing together Malagasy nationals in Mauritius, has taken over the organization of the big tournament as part of the celebration of June 26 this year. The event is sponsored by the Ambassador of Madagascar to Mauritius, HE Camille Vital. Three disciplines are honored for this edition, whose elimination phases have already started a few months ago.
In football, the competition begins its first day of quarter-finals this weekend at the synthetic stadium of Trianon. The basketball players, meanwhile, faced off at the Rose Hill Gymnasium. The same goes for pétanque enthusiasts, the new discipline to be played. All the finals of the three disciplines will take place on June 25 and will be twinned with the celebration of the 63rd anniversary of the independence of Madagascar.
« The objective of the association is to unify Malagasy people through sport, to educate them not to forget Malagasy customs and mores. We particularly thank the Embassy of Madagascar here in Mauritius and the first adviser Tahiry Soja for agreeing to collaborate with us for the organization of this tournament.“, notes President James Andriamalala. This week, the Malagasy association Miray Hina directed officially announced its new honorary president in the person of Patricia Rasendranirina.
