“Incucai Launches #SomosDonantes Campaign to Promote Organ Donation”

The Ministry of Health and the Instituto Nacional Central Único Coordinador de Ablation e Implante (Incucai) launched a campaign on social networks under the motto #SomosDonantes to remember the importance of donating, within the framework of National Organ Donation Day, which It will be held on May 30.

During the day, testimonials from relatives of people who were “organ donors will be disseminated on social networks, allowing those who were waiting for a transplant to recover their health and improve their quality of life,” the health ministry said in a statement.

So far in 2023, 1,502 organ and cornea transplants have been performed. Thus, 776 patients on the waiting list received an organ transplant – 674 from deceased donors and 102 from living donors – and 726 cornea transplants were performed.

For more information, in the first five months of 2023, 566 kidney transplants were performed, 150 liver, 35 cardiac, 12 lung, seven hepatorenal, four renal-pancreatic, one hepatointestinal, one cardiorenal, and 726 corneal transplants.
