In about 15 hours, workers at the Burjeel Medical City in Abu Dhabi succeeded in making a carpet of roses on an area of 250 square meters, to contribute to spreading the message of sustainability, in conjunction with the Year of Sustainability in the UAE.
The carpet, which was completed by 1,000 people belonging to 30 nationalities, included 750 kilograms of flowers, an area equivalent to 60% of the area of a basketball court. The carpet was meticulously designed to reflect the 17 sustainable development goals set by the United Nations, and included a group of colorful flowers, which were carefully arranged to highlight the essence of the goals, such as eliminating poverty and hunger, and climate action, among others.
The participants in the completion of the carpet also displayed features of their heritage, through songs, chants and various paintings.
As part of the ongoing Climate Change Challenge, which is being presented by Burjeel Holding, in collaboration with Oxford University’s Saïd Business School, the event provided high school students with a platform to convey their messages related to climate change.
