“Incredible” Snapchat threats put Salem schools on high alert


The first threat came around 3.30pm on Sunday

PORTLAND, Oregon (KOIN) — Threats that “don’t seem credible” have prompted Salem police and school district officials to investigate and alert parents.

The first Snapchat threats about Parrish Middle School came around 3.30pm on Sunday, police said. About 4 hours later, the Salem-Keizer Public Schools he received another threat, but this time the school called was Houck Middle School.

Police and the school district have been working together, authorities said. Parents are notified and a safety plan is put in place.

Investigators said the “threats don’t seem credible,” but there will be additional security on the Salem-Keizer campuses. Salem Police will also be spending “extra time at local schools” on Monday.
