After smells and insects have crept into the houses surrounding a number of morgues The Sudanese capital, KhartoumAs a result of the accumulation of thousands of corpses for years without responsibility or supervision, this problem has turned into a real crisis in the country.
This prompted the Supreme Committee for the Management of Accumulated Bodies in the state of Khartoum a few days ago to set September 25 as the starting date of the autopsy, particularly at Bashayer Hospital.
It’s a terrifying scene in Bashaer’s morgue. I thought thousands of bodies were covered and decaying, but they weren’t. Bodies sitting on chairs and others stacked on top of each other, complete bodies. There are also dismembered and scattered bodies, bodies are naked and some hidden, faces mostly without features, but souls are suspended as if She says, “When will you bury me and honor my resting place? pic.twitter.com/tEPVhi8ISy

However, the unbearable and terrible scenes captured by Al-Arabiya’s camera from the “Bashaer” morgue showed the horror of that case.
Thousands of bodies appeared to be stacked on top of each other, and some of them were even “sitting on chairs,” according to the Al-Arabiya correspondent.
In that morgue “whole bodies, severed or incomplete, as well as naked bodies were also thrown”.
More than a thousand bodies
As for the faces of the corpses, most of them are featureless, as if they say, “When will you bury me and honor my resting place?”
Interestingly, Bashair’s morgue in Khartoum contains more than a thousand unidentified bodies, which have triggered an ethical, health and environmental crisis in the country.
The autopsy committees of the unidentified bodies stacked in 3 main morgues are expected to begin their work on 25th of this September, which includes the Forensic Medicine Authority, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the police and observers from the international and local community, as well as the families of those missing in the country.
