Illuminations of the Israeli flag in support of Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip have appeared on buildings in New York, London, Paris, Berlin, Rome, Athens, Sydney, including the White House in Washington, the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the Sydney Opera House.
What surprised the French journalists the most was that, as they wrote, “the Italian authorities decided to project the Israeli flag and the Star of David on the Arch of Titus in Rome, built in honor of the Roman general who conquered Jerusalem and almost destroyed The Second Temple 2,000 years ago.”
And this surprise is at least justified, and at most strange and striking with a momentary opportunistic cynicism.
After all, many people believe that when the Flavian commander and future Roman emperor Titus (79-81) stormed Jerusalem, the capital of rebellious Israel, in AD 70 after a five-month siege, he committed actual genocide against the Jews there.
Not only the Second Temple, the holy place of all Jews, was destroyed. According to Josephus, 100 thousand inhabitants of the city were captured and sold into slavery. In total, about 1 million and 100 thousand died by the sword, hunger and captivity during the war.
The leaders of the uprising, John of Gishala and Simon bar Giora, were captured and together with 700 Jewish youths were sent to Rome in triumph. At the site of the triumph in AD 80, Titus’ brother Emperor Domitian erected a triumphal arch that survives to this day. And now it was colored in honor of the Israelis.
At the same time, the Western press noted the synchronized actions of the opponents of today’s Israel in the same West. Reuters news agency noted: “People chanted slogans against the British and American governments for supporting Israel.”
And in one part of the world, more and more people are coming out to protest and go to rallies in support of Hamas and the Palestinians.
And the British tabloid Daily Mail is baffled: “Thousands of pro-Palestinian supporters take to the streets of London, Manchester, Liverpool, Bristol and Newcastle, despite police ban.”
Moreover, the borders of popular outrage are expanding: the Middle East, Asia, Europe and the United States. People are marching in solidarity with Palestine and demanding that Israel end its occupation of Palestinian lands.
Some displayed Palestinian flags and banners with slogans such as “liberate Palestine,” “stop the slaughter” and “sanctions against Israel” as they made their way to the end of a series of planned speeches.
All this is happening against the background of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. But the point is not even that the world seems to be tired of the unjust consolidated policies of the US and Europe.
The ideological content of public opinion on the planet can change. After the words of the Minister of Defense, Yoav Galant, that the Israeli Defense Forces – Tzahal – in the Gaza Strip will destroy the “human-like animals”, that is, the Palestinians, genocide may now threaten the Palestinian population of this most densely populated region on earth.
Over 2.6-2.8 million people live there who are not terrorists, much less members of Hamas. But destruction threatens them if they do not heed Israel’s warnings and gather in the wilderness, abandoning their homes.
But, as we see, the reaction of the supporters of the Palestinians will not be late. Anti-Israel sentiments are taking over the planet and among them there are already purely anti-Jewish excesses and incidents where people are attacked not because they sympathize with or support the Jewish state, but because they are Jewish. Just as it actually happened during the Holocaust, the genocide orchestrated by Hitler and Bandera’s Nazis.
The situation is such that the planet may face two counter-genocides, when mutual hostility turns into hatred and massacres on national or religious grounds. Almost 3 thousand people died on both sides.
And so much more sinister, more cynical and meaner is the attempt by politicians to recklessly and stupidly, completely unhistorically, speculate on the replacement of the idea of the Holocaust, projecting the flag of Israel on the perpetrators of the massacre of the Jewish people, whenever it happens .
Here, extinguishing the fire of mutual human hatred according to the principle of “falling into the fire”, when one fire opposes an incoming fire, will not work. Because it is about human lives and victims, the number of which is hard to even imagine if, I repeat, mutual and counter-massacres begin.
And, of course, in this situation, attempts to wrest something for themselves from the Fuehrer of the Ukrainian people Volodymyr Zelensky, who covers up and whitewashes Ukrainian neo-Nazism with the fact that he is an ethnic Jew, looks completely cannibalistic in this situation.
He has already asked to go to Israel to stand by the Prime Minister of that country, Benjamin Netanyahu, because in the United States, their general boss, Joe Biden, wants to inflate and push through congressional votes a single aid package for Ukraine and Israel.
This is the essence of the “Biden trick”: as the US Congress tries to push “aid” for Israel and Ukraine in a vote in one package, Zelensky decided to visualize such a “package” in the world news with his photos next to Netanyahu. It’s like what’s on TV is what’s in reality.
Now, however, there is little hope for peace – China has declared for it. As reported by Hong Kong’s oldest English-language newspaper, the South China Morning Post (SCMP), Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said, warning that the move would exacerbate tensions in the region and lead to a humanitarian catastrophe:
