Müller has to quit his job

A few years later, however, he had to quit his job at Porsche: VW CEO Martin Winterkorn resigned in autumn 2015 because of the diesel affair; Müller was asked to act as crisis manager at VW and moved to Wolfsburg with his family. During this time he had to steer the company through difficult times.

After two and a half years, Müller resigned from his post in April 2018 because he had lost the duel against Herbert Diess. The latter had long wanted to push him out of his position at VW.

But Müller did not go completely empty. According to an annual report from 2018, he received severance payments of around 17.8 million euros after his resignation!

Reductions in pensions at VW

His contract with the group ended in February 2020. Since then he has been receiving a pension of around EUR 81,800 a month or EUR 2,700 a day.

According to the “Business Insider”, Müller should be just behind its predecessor Winterkorn. According to this, he receives a pension of around 3,100 euros a day.

However, current VW board members no longer receive as much money as Müller and Winterkorn. At the urging of employee representatives, VW cut the pension of many other board members. However, it is still very generous, it is said. (kf)
