Incredible cycling trip from Cape Town to Vienna

Two women and their unique cycling trip from Cape Town to Vienna. The “Roaming Pedals” lecture on September 21st in the Villach Congress Center offers 445 days full of impressions and exciting encounters and much more.

Two women, two bikes and 24,000 kilometers in 445 days. These are the key facts of an incredible cycling trip. For over a year, Johanna and Tanja were on the longest journey home of their lives – as “roaming pedals” – with their bikes from Cape Town to Vienna.

On September 21st (6 p.m.) the two will come to the Congress Center Villach to share their memories of elephants, sandstorms and bizarre encounters with the audience. In their varied travel talk, the “Roaming Pedals” take their listeners on their incredible journey home. Equipped with headlamps, tents and their bicycles, they will travel this evening through the African bush, across the Arabian Peninsula and to the mountain nomads of Iran.

“As part of the European Mobility Week, where Villach residents can use our BUS:SI lines and the Carinthian lines free of charge from 16 to 22 September, this worthwhile lecture is another part of raising awareness of the topics of cycling and gentle mobility,” says Mayor Günther Albel.

Christoph Zettinig, chairman of the Carinthian cycling lobby, added: “The aim of European Mobility Week is to show the great potential of sustainable mobility. The Roaming Pedals show us how far a seemingly simple bicycle can take you.”
