KONTAN.CO.ID – DEPOK. The surge in corona cases (Covid-19) in Depok, West Java has continued since the second week of November 2020.
Until the data was updated yesterday, there were 3,557 active Covid-19 patients / cases in Depok, a drastic increase of nearly 3.5 times in less than 2 months since the start of the surge on November 11, 2020 (1,052 patients).
This situation directly affects the filling of isolation beds for Covid-19 patients in hospitals in Depok.

West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil on December 2 stated that the occupancy of the Covid-19 isolation room at the hospital in Depok was in the range of 80%.
“Yes, it is getting tense now,” said the Head of the Depok City Health Service, Novarita, to Kompas.com, Tuesday (5/1/2021). “This means that the percentage continues to increase (the filling of Covid-19 isolation beds in hospitals). Almost close to 90%,” he added.
Novarita said, in Depok there were 591 Covid-19 isolation rooms spread across 21 hospitals. Of that number, there are 56 ICU rooms available.
As in other areas, the ICU room in Depok is also fully occupied. “Yes, it’s the same, here too (ICU is full). Only 56 people need as much as Depok,” said Novarita.
The Depok City Government is said to be exploring the opportunity to add more ICU rooms and Covid-19 isolation beds. However, Novarita has not been able to provide certainty about the additional target.
On the other hand, the addition of isolation rooms, as well as an ICU for Covid-19 patients, is not an easy matter because it must be accompanied by additional qualified medical personnel.
“Hopefully. We are trying to add more ICU rooms at the hospital. Hopefully this can be realized,” said Novarita.
