Increasingly Strict Travel Requirements in RI Gegara Tsunami Corona India

Jakarta

Terms of the perpetrator travel during the Lebaran homecoming period tightened even further. This tightening was carried out after reflecting on the tsunami Corona case which struck India.

If previously the regulations only prohibited going home on 6-17 May 2021, now the travel conditions before and after are also tightened.

Initially, the complete rules for the prohibition of going home were contained in Circular Letter Number 13 of 2021 concerning the Elimination of the Idul Fitri 1442 Hijriah Homecoming and Efforts to Control the Spread of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) During the Holy Month of Ramadan 1442 Hijriah.

This regulation regulates the temporary elimination of homecoming for people using land, rail, sea and air transportation modes across cities / regencies / provinces / countries. The elimination of homecoming is valid from May 6 to May 17, 2021.

The COVID-19 Task Force then published an addendum (addition) to the SE. Viewed by detik.com, Wednesday (21/4) the addendum regulates the expansion of time for domestic trippersons (PPDN), namely during D-14 the elimination of homecoming (22 April to 5 May 2021) and D + 7 of the elimination of homecoming (18-24 May 2021). ). This rule came into effect April 22.

“This Circular Addendum is effective from April 22 to May 5, 2021 and May 18 to May 24, 2021, and will be further reviewed as needed,” said the addendum.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) spokesman, Fadjroel Rachman, said the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in India was the reason for the government to tighten travel requirements before and after the 2021 homecoming ban. The government, he said, was worried that Indonesia would be hit by the Corona tsunami.

“Until now there is no doubt from the government if there is an additional D-14 before May 6 to May 17, it is because there is a consideration after the (COVID-19) case in India broke out. Namely, in one day 200 thousand could be positive and almost more than 2,000 people died, “said Fadjroel in an online discussion entitled ‘Don’t be tired of waiting for a reshuffle’, Saturday (24/4/2021).

“Now, that is the government’s consideration so that in the case of this Lebaran homecoming first D-14 there is some kind of effort to be even tighter in implementing health protocols,” he continued.

However, Fadjroel said going home was still prohibited. The government has stipulated a ban on going home from a long time ago.

“But the ban remains on May 6 to 17, then D + 7 there is a tightening of the travelers,” he said.

He said that travel requirements were tightened to prevent an increase in Corona cases after the long holiday was repeated. He said this was an effort by the government to control the spread of Corona.

“In my opinion, this is a direct effort to deal with the situation. So this is an adaptive effort from President Joko Widodo to face repeated situations,” he said.
