Thousands of subscribers are faced with increases in tariffs for mobile, landline and internet packages. According to the “news”providers are proceeding with immediate tariff increases after the “brake” was put on the requested contract adjustment, proposing to customers new increased tariffs on expiring contracts.
For example, providers suggest that subscribers continue with the same plan but with an increase ranging from 4-7 euros per month, for a contract of 24-27 euros per month.
According to the “News”, the new increases proposed by the providers mainly affect subscribers who had discounted contracts in the past. While almost all consumers obtained their connections through offers, the increases apply to all subscribers. Some companies invite subscribers to take advantage of a special offer before their contract expires, offering them a fee increase of up to 20%. Subscribers are advised to grab this offer right away as it won’t be available for long.
The subscriber, regardless of whether he had taken out a contract with a discount from the price list or not, is not obliged to accept the proposed increase. If his contract has expired, he can request a refund for himself and transfer his connection to another provider (portability). Companies are also hopeful about consumer “idleness.” If the latter decides to request a change of provider, it is very likely that he will return to the original offer, i.e. the one that was valid for the last 12, 18 or 24 months.
This is a situation that is not unknown, as providers have tried many times to increase their prices. The previous attempt to index their tariffs in the summer of 2023 is a relevant example.
