Soldiers from Russia and Uzbekistan have on Monday launched a joint military exercise along the border with Afghanistan after several weeks of unrest in the war-torn country.
The concern is that Afghanistan’s internal security will collapse after violent conflicts between government forces and the Islamist rebel group Taliban, which has taken control of increasingly new provinces in the country in recent times.
The forces are deployed to prevent the internal unrest in Afghanistan from spreading to other countries in Central Asia.
