On the occasion of the beautiful and hot weekend which awaits the Eastern Townships, the police officers of Sherbrooke will be more present in the city to ensure that there is no slackening on the sanitary measures.

At least that’s what the mayor of Sherbrooke, Steve Lussier, said in an interview with Radio-Canada. According to him, the police authorities will be particularly on the lookout to avoid illegal gatherings in private residences or in public places.
People have tried so hard for a long time, for sure they want to go out. I am one of those too! What I often tell people is that in Sherbrooke, we have a large area. This is the opportunity to go and discover new corners to avoid gathering together
, emphasizes Steve Lussier.
According to him, too many statements of offense related to COVID-19 are submitted every week.
Unfortunately, we still have tickets that are given in connection with compliance with the measures. Last week, 19 tickets were reported just for gatherings.
The mayor also calls on the citizens of the region to be vaccinated as soon as possible. Remember that, since yesterday, people aged 18 and over can make an appointment to receive their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
