[에너지데일리 변국영 기자] With the introduction of the next generation biodiesel to expand the domestic supply of green biofuels, the mandatory blending ratio will increase from the original target of 5.0% to 8.0% by 2030.

On the 13th, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy held an industry meeting to promote eco-friendly biofuels at the Korea Press Center and announced a plan to expand eco-friendly biofuels.

According to the expansion plan, in order to expand the domestic supply of eco-friendly biofuels, in the case of biodiesel, currently used by blending with generic diesel as the subject of the “Renewable Energy Fuel Mixing Duty (RFS), the mandatory mixing ratio it will be increased by introducing new generation biodiesel by 2030. The target will be increased from 5.0% to 8.0% by 2020.

Furthermore, bio jet fuel and bio fuel for ships, which have not yet been marketed in Korea, will be introduced in Korea as soon as possible after verification (bio jet fuel 2026, bio ship oil target 2025). After receiving my research service, I decided to start reviewing the relevant laws starting next year.

In order to ensure the stable supply of the raw materials needed for biofuel production, we will support the resolution of difficulties in the sector to facilitate the collection and use of raw materials such as plastic waste and establish a win-win ecosystem by connecting the materials prime materials procurement industry and biofuel production industry. In addition, we support overseas advancement so that hard-to-obtain raw materials in Korea can be produced and purchased overseas.

Furthermore, to ensure technological competitiveness, the development of integrated technology of environmentally friendly biofuels on a large scale is being promoted.

In order to establish a stable supply chain, the government has decided to establish a system of mutual cooperation between the biofuel production and consumption industries from the initial stage of the introduction of ecological biofuels. To this end, the “Council for the Promotion of the Expansion of Ecological Biofuels Joint Private-Private” was formed on the basis of the “win-win agreement” between the relevant public institutions and the industry to voluntarily review the follow-up measures. -up of this policy and discover and promote new cooperation projects. decided to quit

Industry Minister Changyang Lee said: “It is very significant that our industry has garnered the willingness to cooperate to revitalize promising industries such as green biofuels in a world where competition to secure key raw materials and supply chains. in the global industry and the energy market becomes more fierce every day. “Since it is important to build and strengthen a stable supply chain at the right time, we will continue to actively promote policies to promote environmentally friendly biofuels.”

Meanwhile, in order to expand the domestic use of green biofuels, which is attracting attention as an effective means of responding to climate change and which is expected to grow in the global market in the future, and promoting it as a promising industry in the future, the government communicated with industry experts and various industries and a plan was prepared to expand ecological biofuels.

While expanding the use of environmentally friendly biofuels is particularly difficult to directly replace fuels with electricity, etc., related international environmental regulations are an essential tool for the increasingly stringent aviation and maritime industries and given their high dependency from the oil of the economy, all are sold abroad. It is expected to help improve domestic energy security by replacing the demand for imported and used oil.
