The president of the Rienzi association: “The price escalation has become out of control”

CAGLIARI. Even in Sardinia, the judiciary will have to intervene on the relentless escalation of fuel prices. Codacons, the only Italian association to take the field with criminal complaints against expensive gasoline, in fact presents a complaint to the Public Prosecutors of Cagliari, Sassari, Nuoro, Oristano and Tempio and to the Antitrust asking them to investigate the abnormal price increases of petrol and diesel at the pump registered in the region and on possible speculations underway to the detriment of consumers and businesses in Sardinia.
“These days the fuel prices sold at the distributors are literally out of control, with gasoline that in self mode travels towards 2.3 euros per liter and costs an average of 39.3% more than in the same period of 2021 , while diesel oil even rises by + 51.3% “- explains the president Carlo Rienzi Aumenti who, as reported today March 12 also by Minister Cingolani, would not appear justified either by the current oil prices, or by reductions in supplies in the territory related to the war in Ukraine, not to mention that petrol and diesel sold today at distributors were bought months ago, at significantly lower prices.
“The risk is that the price increases at the pump could be doped by speculative phenomena aimed at exploiting the delicate situation in Ukraine to increase earnings to the detriment of consumers and businesses – continues Rienzi – For this reason we present a complaint to the Antitrust and to the Prosecutors of the Republic of Sardinia, asking to open investigations with the help of the Guardia di Finanza and ascertain any speculation and offenses on the regional territory, in light of the possible cases of aggravated fraud, manipulation and speculative maneuvers on goods “.
