The Minister of Economy and Finance, José Arista, announced that at the end of the second half of 2024 the possibility of increasing the minimum wage will be evaluated, after the Government has managed to stabilize the national economy.
In statements to the media, he considered that this was not the ideal scenario to evaluate said measure due to the high rates of informality in the Peruvian economy.
“We have 30% formal economy and 70% informality. Indicators of economic reactivation have been noted, but the truth is that I believe that at the end of the second semester we should be evaluating that alternative,” she added.

The indicators that point to the stabilization of the economy are the increase in cement sales, energy consumption and fuel sales. There is also the indicator that measures the Central Reserve Bank related to hiring and investment decisions, which according to their words, are improving.
It should be noted that currently, the minimum salary is set at S/ 1,025.
