Increase in revenues and increase in sponsorship contracts. FIFA: Women’s football is making huge popular progress | Soccer

A report from the International Football Association (FIFA), after analyzing 294 clubs across 30 leagues, says women’s football is making tremendous progress around the world in terms of popularity and sponsorship.

The clubs included in the report achieved a 30% increase in year-over-year commercial revenue, along with “strong growth” in sales, while three-quarters of the clubs covered in the report secured a sponsorship deal in 2022 compared to 66% a year before.

“The data in this year’s report shows that institutions that are willing to invest in women’s football are being paid,” said Sarai Berman, senior official in charge of women’s football at FIFA.

“We expect this to increase as more clubs, leagues, broadcasters and partners truly recognize the unique growth opportunity available in women’s football,” the official added.

Berman also confirmed that women’s football has made significant progress and developments since FIFA launched the women’s football strategy 4 years ago.

As the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup approaches, FIFA expects to make further gains by increasing the popularity of women’s sports.

The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup will be held in Australia and New Zealand in July.
