The Coal Entrepreneurs Association proposed that the government increase the DMO price of coal from 70 to 90 dollars per tonne. This is to deal with the difference in the selling price of coal in the global market, which reached 180 dollars and the selling price to PLN, 70 dollars. But this increase does not have to be followed by PLN by increasing the basic electricity tariff which will burden the community.
“The government can get money from high export prices, its fiscal instruments can support each other. We also don’t want the people’s burden to be heavy, if we have to increase the electricity tariff,” said General Chairperson of the Indonesian Coal and Energy Suppliers Association (Aspebindo) Anggawira.
